Product
Management: At the dawn of the new MacOS X era, Apple Computer
revived its graphics technology by licensing OpenGL, the multi-platform
standard for 3D graphics. Abandoning its prior technology, Apple needed
a marketing strategy to bring developers to support OpenGL.
RioPoint, with its extensive knowledge
of high-end graphics production and industry, devised a plan to create
an “ecosystem” of application solutions based on a typical
production workflow. This workflow targeted the most popular and powerful
graphics applications, not only 3D oriented. The "workflow" strategy
states that the creative professional will only adopt a new platform
if all the supporting peripheral applications that enable their content
creation were also present. The efforts to construct a “workflow
ecosystem” for MacOS X proved highly successful with the acquisition
of industry leading film editing and special effects developer Shake
and Kodak Cineon, and the porting of key applications such as Maya
and Renderman. For more 3D click 3D Graphics.
Events and Promotions: RioPoint implemented
workshops, panels and seminars to help developers code for the new operating
system. Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference “Early Bird” workshops
are very successful and booked up events, informing developers on the
best coding strategies directly from Apple engineering.
